MTN Group dismisses reported board pressure from shareholder

Thursday 6 June 2019 | 10:45 CET | News
MTN Group has refuted recent media stories that the PIC is pushing for changes to the board of MTN. The company said that contrary to what the report alleges, the PIC requested that the board consider extending Phuthuma Nhleko's term longer than he had originally intended to remain chairman. Considering other issues around the board evolution, MTN said it asked Nhleko to stay until 15 December to ensure an orderly hand-over to the chairman designate, Mcebisi Jonas.
