MTN Nigeria extends mobile licence for USD 94 mln

Wednesday 4 November 2015 | 09:34 CET | News
The Nigerian communications commission (NCC) has extended MTN's licence for spectrum in the 900MHz and 1800MHz frequency bands. The original licence was issued in 2001 and was set to expire in February 2016; it will now run until end-August 2021. MTN will have to pay over USD 94 million for the five-year extension by end-December and fulfill all regulatory obligations. MTN also holds a unified access licence and a 3G spectrum licence in Nigeria.
