MTN Nigeria eyes up to 60 mln unbanked people with PSB licence

MTN Nigeria said it is targeting between 40 million to 60 million addressable, unbanked adults by implementing a mobile money service, Leadership reported. The mobile network operator with 58 million subscribers secured a Payment Service Bank (PSB) licence from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in December. Group chief executive officer Rob Shuter, who gave insight into the development after MTN released its 2018 full financial results, said Nigeria for many years had struggled to make progress in financial inclusion with mobile money.
