MTN Nigeria receives payment for interconnect debts

MTN Nigeria said it had started receiving payments for the interconnect debts owed it by other telecommunications companies, including Globacom, Etisalat and Airtel. Of the NGN 13.6 billion outstanding, other operators had paid over NGN 5 billion as of 18 May, the Punch reported. Although MTN's Public Relations and Protocol Manager, Funso Aina, declined to state the exact figures paid by each of the three firms, sources at the regulatory unit of the company told the daily that Glo had paid NGN 2 billion.
