MTN Nigeria says still in talks over fine

MTN Nigeria said that reports of a final settlement of the NGN 780 billion fine imposed on the operator by the Nigerian Communications Commission were false. CEO Ferdi Moolman said in a statement that the reports of a settlement were premature, as the company was still negotiating with the Nigerian government. Moolman said the confidential negotiations are still very much ongoing, with the authorities aiming to achieve an amicable resolution of the matter. The company has been negotiating with the government over a possible reduction of the fine and earlier made a partial payment of USD 250
