MTN South Africa launches unlimited cloud service

Tuesday 17 February 2015 | 10:57 CET | News
MTN South Africa has launched a cloud service that provides unlimited storage capacity across a range of devices for a monthly fee of ZAR 99. This service is available to both prepaid and post-paid customers, and is payable with airtime, a first in the industry. Currently, end-users who subscribe to a cloud service have a limited storage capacity and any storage beyond the prescribed threshold is chargeable, often run by an international OTT and usually by credit card.

Trust MTN with my personal data? No, nope, no way. I couldn't trust them with the billing on the data package I had with them - they charged more than advertised. I couldn't trust them with the amount of data they provided each month - I supposedly "used" data when the sim was not even inserted in a device for two weeks. And I couldn't trust them to not keep on deducting the debit order when I canceled the expired contract - still deducted a full calender month after cancellation. MTN, never again.
