MTN Uganda faces legal action over caller tune copyright

MTN Uganda has been taken to court over the alleged sale as a caller tune of the song "Kwata Esimu", which belongs to Winnie Nwagi and Mubarak Adams Mandela, alias Free Boy, The Observer reported. Viva Entertainment said in its suit before the Civil Division of the High Court that the two musicians claim to have written, produced, published and invested money in the song. Viva wants the court to declare the sale of Kwata Esimu as a caller tune without authorisation or consent as an infringement of copyright and unjust enrichment.
