MTN Uganda implements reduced mobile money tax

Monday 19 November 2018 | 11:06 CET | News
MTN Uganda has implemented the tax revision for mobile money transactions, which lowered it from 1 percent to 0.5 percent on withdrawals only.  This follows the assent of the Excise Duty (Amendment) Act (2018) into law by President Yoweri Museveni. This Act reduces the tax that went into force on 01 July and limits its application to withdrawals from customers' mobile money wallets.
