MTN Uganda net profit up 9% in H1, subscriber base expands 10%

MTN Uganda has reported a 9.1 percent increase year on year in net profit to UGX 442.6 billion in the first half of 2020, driven by a strong performance in mobile money, data and digital income. Revenues grew by 7.6 percent to UGX 900 billion and data incomes jumped 30 percent from UGX 128 billion to UGX 167 billion. Voice revenues grew from UGX 458 billion to UGX 471 billion as the company reported a 10 percent rise in the subscriber base to 13.2 million from 13.0 million in 2019.
