MTN Uganda says daily social media tax now valid for 24 hours instead of ending at midnight

Monday 5 November 2018 | 11:12 CET | News
Daily social media tax subscriptions now last a full 24 hours instead of expiring at midnight, reports the Observer. Since the introduction of the tax in July, internet users in Uganda are required to pay UGX 200 per day, UGX 1,400 per week or UGX 6,000 per month to access social networks such as Facebook, Whatsapp or Instagram among others. This subscription would expire at midnight regardless of the time of activation.
