MTN will pay 'reasonable' fine in Nigeria - report

Monday 22 February 2016 | 14:28 CET | News
MTN Group could end up paying a "reasonable" amount following talks with the Nigerian authorities over a disputed USD 3.9 billion fine for failing to disconnect unregistered Sim card users, ThisDay reported citing two sources familiar with the matter. According to one source, there is growing understanding within the industry regulator NCC that the fine will be commercially reasonable. Another source said a further reduction from USD 3.9 billion was a "possibility" because "the tone of the NCC is not combative anymore."
