
MTS eyes sale of MTS Ukraine stake - report

Russian mobile operator MTS is considering selling a stake in the mobile operator MTS Ukraine in order to share the costs of building faster networks and mitigate political risks, a person familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. MTS has hired advisers to find co-investors for building a network in Ukraine and may offer them a stake in the unit, said the person, who asked not to be identified. Building a 3G network in the country, including license fees, may cost as much as UAH 4 billion. MTS generates about 10 percent of its revenue from Ukraine.
