MTS launches LTE in Tambov
Russian mobile operator MTS has launched its LTE FDD network in the Tambov region. Up to 75 Mbps download speeds are offered to subscribers. The services are available in all quarters across the city, including campuses of two universities. MTS plans to double the amount of LTE base stations in the region by the end of the year. MTS-branded routers, as well as tablets and smartphones from Samsung, Sony, Nokia, LG and other producers support the LTE services. This is the second region where MTS launches LTE, after Moscow.

Russian operators to expand LTE to smaller towns

Russian operators Megafon, MTS and Beeline plan to bring their LTE services to towns with 10,000 to 50,000 residents under their investment programmes, aiming to cover 23 million residents in such towns. The operators are already obliged by their licencing agreements to provide LTE services in cities and towns with more than 50,000 residents. Such larger places have 79 million inhabitants, comprising 55 percent of the country's population.

Russia and CIS mobile oeprator MTS reported second-quarter revenues up 5 percent from a year earlier to RUB 97 billion. OIBDA improved 10 percent to RUB 44 billion, increasing the margin 1.9 percent points year-on-year to 45.5 percent. The company recorded net profit of RUB 29 billion versus a loss of RUB 23 billion a year ago, helped by a one-time gain on the settlement of its dispute in Kyrgyzstan with Altimo and Beeline. MTS cuts LTE routers and modems prices in Moscow

Russian mobile operator MTS has reduced the prices of MTS Connect packages providing LTE routers and LTE modems in its retail outlets and its online shop. The price of the package with the 4G Wi-Fi router now costs RUB 4,450 and the package with the LTE modem costs RUB 1,150. The offer is available in Moscow.

Nokia Siemens Networks is extending its contract with Russia and CIS operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) by deploying FDD LTE in the Moscow and Central Russia regions during the third quarter this year. Russian mobile operator MTS has awarded a contract to Ericsson for equipment supplies for LTE networks in the Volga, Siberia, Urals and Southern Russia regions. MTS to offer LTE in 600 cities by 2015

Russian mobile operator MTS plans to deploy LTE in over 600 cities and towns across the country by the end of 2014, reports Prime citing Andrey Dubovskov, the president of MTS. The operator also aims to maintain its ratio of debt to EBITDA at 1.1-1.5x. Capital expenditure will total 18-19 percent of revenues through 2015. MTS also plans to complete projects on the deployment of 3G and upgrade the network of its subsidiary MGTS in Moscow.

MTS launches LTE FDD at Moscow-City business centre

Russian mobile operator MTS has launched an LTE FDD network at the Moscow-City business centre. The operator plans to deploy around 2,000 LTE FDD base stations in Moscow byl the end of 2014, using 720-727,5/761-768,7МHz, 798,5-806/839,5-847 МHz, and 2540-2550/2660-2670 МHz bands. The new network will operate simultaneously with the operator's LTE TDD network, which was launched in Moscow in September 2012. MTS runs over 2,000 LTE TDD base stations in the capital city.
