MTS Turkmenistan results down sharply after services suspended

Revenues of the mobile operator MTS Turkmenistan, controlled by MTS Group, totaled TMT 61.7 million in the third quarter, down by 3.3 percent year-on-year. Adjusted OIBDA fell 56.5 percent to TMT 9.7 million, and the OIBDA margin declined by 19.3 percentage points to 15.7 percent. The net loss of the company was TMT 71.0 million against TMT 9.6 million in net profit in the year-earlier period.  

On 29 Septmber, MTS Turkmenistan was forced to stop providing its telecommunications services due to activities of the state-owned fixed operator Turkmentelecom. The state-owned operator disconnected DLD/ILD telephony and internet services for MTS Turkmenistan. MTS Group evaluated the loss at TMT 69.9 million due to the depreciation of its non-used assets in Turkmenistan.
