NAmerica smartphone shipments drop 18% in Q1, with Samsung gaining on Apple

Smartphone shipments in North America dropped 18 percent year-on-year in the first quarter to 36.4 million units, according to the latest study from Canalys. The fall was caused by a lacklustre performance from Apple and the absence of ZTE, but also by the fact that year before shipments hit a high of 44.4 million units.
