National regulators ignoring EU common framework - Facebook

Facebook's vice president of public policy in Europe, Richard Allan, has written in the Financial Times that European governments, including like Belgium and the Netherlands, appear to be starting multiple overlapping investigations of the company, which runs counter to the EU's common regulatory framework. Facebook, which opened its European headquarters in Ireland in 2010, went through technical audits of the Irish data protection agency, which is charged with enforcing EU data protection law. The company worked through the national telecom regulator when other member states' regulatory
