NCC and other West African agencies form alliance against counterfeit phones

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has formed a working alliance with other regional bodies in order to combat counterfeit phones and other ICT devices, the Punch reported. Partners include the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) and the West African Telecommunications Regulatory Association (WATRA). Director of Zonal Operations at NCC, Amina Shehu, said the size of the Nigerian market had made it attractive to counterfeit phone dealers.
