NCC fines MTN NGN 1 trillion - report

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has imposed a record NGN 1.04 trillion fine against MTN Nigeria over alleged breach of SIM registration rules, the Technology Times reported. The fine was for failing to disconnect subscribers with unregistered and incomplete subscriber identification for their SIMs within the stipulated time. The fine is the largest in the history of telecom infringements sanctioned by the regulator. A top official of MTN Nigeria confirmed to Leadership that the NCC issued the fine against MTN Nigeria.
