Nearly 60% of all TVs sold in H1 were smart TVs - study

Around 59 percent of all television sets sold worldwide in the first six months of 2017 were smart TVs, up from 51 percent a year earlier, according to a report published by GfK released to coincide with IFA 2017 in Berlin. The increase was driven by China, where 89 percent of all of the televisions sold between January and June were already smart TVs. In Europe during the same period it was 56 percent, compared to 46 percent in the first half of 2016, although the figure reached 66 percent in Germany, said the report.
