NEC ALLIES WITH SEIKO EPSON
NEC holds some 53% of the PC market in Japan but faces price cutting by competitors offering DOS/V standard machines. NEC is now turning to Seiko Epson which makes clones of NEC's PC-9800 range. NEC has removed a block function from its operating system which stops the MS-DOS variant from operating on Seiko Epson machines and has invited Seiko Epson to NEC company fairs to be held in November 1994.
