NEC FY profits better than expected

NEC reported revenues for its fiscal year to March below its earlier forecast due to weaker sales at its carrier networks and PC divisions. Revenues were up 1.1 percent from a year earlier to JPY 3.072 trillion, but fell short of its guidance of JPY 3.15 trillion. Operating profit of JPY 114.6 billion more than doubled from a year earlier to JPY 114.6 billion and was better than the JPY 110 billion forecast thanks to cost reductions. The net result moved to a profit of JPY 30.4 billion from a loss of JPY 110.3 billion, also better than forecast. The group will resume dividend payments, at JPY
