Nest Labs starts developers programme

Nest Labs has started its first Developer Program to build applications for its smart home devices. Over 5,000 developers have already expressed interest in building software to expand the applications of the Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Protect alarm. The new partners with apps ready include IFTTT, Jawbone, LIFX, Logitech, Mercedes-Benz and Whirlpool, while Chamberlain and Google will introduce more features this autumn. Developers will have access to Nest APIs controlling aspects such as whether the user is at home or away, smoke and CO alerts, and peak energy events in order to build
