
Nest Labs also announced a new version of its smoke alarm the Nest Protect, with a new split-spectrum sensor to detect different kinds of fires and the ability to turn the alarm off from the smartphone app. In addition, Nest is working with insurance companies Liberty Mutual and American Family in the US to allow people with home insurance to get a discount on the Nest Protect. As part of the offer, the device will share information with the insurers about its correct installation and functioning. The new Nest Protect is available now for order for USD 99 or EUR 119.
Separately AT&T announced a project to integrate Nest products in its Digital Life smart-home services. The testing will start with the Nest Learning Thermostat in July.
