Netflix accounts for 34% of peak-time traffic in Canada

Netflix continues to be the leading app in Canada, accounting for over 34 percent of downstream traffic in peak evening hours, according the latest data from fixed and mobile network software provider Sandvine. This compares to a 13.5 percent share in 2011. P2P file sharing continue to decline with new entrants such as Shomi and CarveTV entering the market. P2P file sharing now accounts for 11 percent of total daily traffic, versus over 15 percent in 2014.  Twitch and Valve's Steam store are now among the top-10 bandwidth consuming applications online.
