Netflix expands service to Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway
Netflix has announced it has expanded its services and launched in Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Ten million broadband households in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden can subscribe to Netflix and, for one monthly price, access a selection of local and global TV shows and movies via a range of Internet-connected devices. Netflix is priced at SEK 79 per month in Sweden, DKK 79 in Denmark, NOK 79 in Norway and EUR7.99 in Finland. A free one-month trial is available by visiting Netflix.com and an extended trial is available for a limited time to paying Spotify customers as part of a launch partnership with the music streaming company. Netflix is fully localised offering subtitles in foreign language movies and TV shows and dubbing for most children's titles.

Netflix ranks Altibox as fastest Norwegian ISP in May

Norwegian cable company Altibox said Netflix has ranked it first for internet speed in May, with an average speed of 2.78 Mbps. Netflix ranked Get second at 2.74 Mbps on average, NTE third at 2.69 Mbps, Loqal fourth at 2.61 Mbps and Broadnet fifth at 2.51 Mbps on average. Altibox took the opportunity to point out that it now offers Netflix Super HD thanks to its status as a Netflix Open Connect partner. This means Netflix servers are directly linked to the Altibox core grid, avoiding any bottlenecks.

Netflix posts surprise profit in Q4

Streaming video service Netflix reported fourth-quarter results better than expected, thanks to solid subscriber growth both in the US and abroad. Revenues rose to USD 945 million from USD 876 million a year ago, while net profit dropped to USD 8 million from USD 35 million. Netflix shares jump after Icahn buys stake

Shares in Netflix jumped higher on 31 October after news emerged that investor Carl Icahn has acquired a large stake in the online video company.
