Netflix to adapt '100 Years of Solitude' as original series

Netflix announced that it's acquired the rights to adapt the 1967 book 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' by Nobel prize-winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez into a Spanish-language series. In a statement Netflix said the author never allowed the novel to be optioned because he was sceptical that the generation-spanning tale could fit within a traditional film structure. He also wanted the story to be told in Spanish. Under the terms of the deal, the streaming giant has agreed to film the series in the author's home country of Colombia, with his sons Rodrigo Garcia and Gonzalo Garcia Barcha on
