Netflix to stop sending network congestion messages

Tuesday 10 June 2014 | 10:50 CET | News
Netflix has agreed to stop sending messages blaming Verizon's broadband service for slow delivery of its shows and films, reports Reuters. In a posting on the company's blog, Netflix spokesperson Joris Evers said that the messages were a 'small scale test' that will end on 16 June. The messages were shown on screen when a video was buffering. However, he said that the company would evaluate a wider roll-out. Verizon has already threatened legal action if Netflix does not provide information about who received the messages, calling them deceptive and blaming Netflix for slow streaming.
