Netflix has announced that Las Leyendas (The Legends) will be its first original animated series to be produced in Latin America. The first season of 13 episodes will premiere worldwide exclusively on the streaming service in 2017. Las Leyendas is set in the 19th century and centres on Leo San Juan, a reluctant but heroic teen boy with the ability to communicate with ghosts and monsters. The show is based on a successful trilogy of children's films from Anima Estudios as well as on characters created by award-winning producer Ricardo Arnaiz.
