Netgear unveils first tri-band wireless router

Global networking company, Netgear has expanded its Nighthawk family of 802.11ac routers with the addition of the new Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Tri-Band WiFi Router (R8000), the first tri-band WiFi router available for purchase that incorporates the Broadcom 5G WiFi XStream platform. With six high-performance antennas and three network bands, one 2.4GHz and two 5GHz, the Nighthawk X6 delivers the industry's fastest combined WiFi speed, up to 3.2 Gbps. 

Nighthawk X6 intelligently segments slower and faster devices into the most appropriate WiFi band enabling the X6 to mitigate interference and more effectively support all WiFi devices, including more Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Powered by a 1GHz dual core processor with three additional offload processors and equipped with a USB 3.0 port and five Gigabit Ethernet ports, Nighthawk X6 supports Netgear Beamforming+ technology, Netgear ReadyShare Vault application software, VPN for remote access using URL, SPI and NAT double firewall and separate guest network access. Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Tri-Band WiFi Router (R8000) is currently available for pre-order for USD 299.99 in the US.

Netgear sales lower in Q2 on weak Europe

Netgear reported a drop in second-quarter revenue to USD 337.6 million from USD 357.7 million a year earlier, at the low end of its earlier guidance due to weakness in Europe.
