Netia CEO steps down
The management board of Polish operator Netia has announced that CEO Tomasz Szopa resigned on 01 June with immediate effect, without providing reasons for his resignation. At the same time, the supervisory board has appointed Katarzyna Iwuc to take on the responsibilities of CEO and CFO. Supervisory board member Stefan Radziminski has been designated as a temporary member of the management board with responsibility for strategic projects and technology until 01 September.

Netia appointed CIO

After appointing a CTO at the beginning of August, Polish operator Netia has appointed Konrad Kobylecki as a CIO, reported Telko.in. Kobylecki has been working in the telecoms industry for eleven years: in 1999-2007, he worked for Telekomunikacja Polska (today Orange Poland) and in 2007-2009 was a board member at Polkomtel.

Netia adds nine channels to TV offering, withdraws one

Polish operator Netia is adding nine new channels, including six in HD, to its package Sport and Emotions, reported Media2.pl. They will be available for free within an open window. At the same time, the operator is withdrawing the channel Real Madrid TV from the line-up.

Netia introduces competitive unlimited offer without roaming

Polish operator Netia has introduced a competitive, unlimited service for domestic communication only, to flank the introduction of RLAH. The subscription for a competitive package is thus 40 - 60 percent cheaper compared with other networks. The operator is also offering a promotional data package of 20 GB a month during the summer holiday to those who port their number from another network.

Netia installs Tyco fire extinguisher system at data centre

Netia has announced the completion of the first stage of the upgrade of its data centre in Warsaw. The operator installed a state-of-the-art fire extinguisher system from the company Tyco that uses silent nozzles. This reduces the noise associated with gas discharging and thus the risk to sensitive collocation devices, such as hard disks.

UPC Poland ex-manager joins Netia as residential arm head

Tomasz Dakowski, a former manager at UPC Poland, will take up the position of director-general of the residential division at the operator Netia, reported Telko.in. He will replace Joanna Wcislo, who has left Netia.

Netia's TK Telekom extends contract with PKP Budownictwo

Netia's subsidiary TK Telekom extend contract on maintenance with PKP Budownictwo, rerported Telko.in. The original contract was from 2014 and it has been extended to 2018, reports Telko.in. PKP, which was earlier part of TK Telekom, will provide Netia with installation and activation services on the data transmission network.

Netia adds two music channels

Polish cable operator Netia extended the programme offer of its Personal TV, adding two music channels DJAZZ HD TV and Brava HD. After the extension, the operator offers 200 TV channels, of which 111 are in HD.

Netia implements GMPLS to shorten fibre restoration time

Polish operator Netia has become the first operator in Poland to has implement a DWDM system on its network, using a modern mechanism based on GMPLS, allowing quick and automatic renewal of connections in case of a defect of a fibre-optic line. Another benefit of the new device is encryption of customers' physical lines (lambdas).

Netia runs an advertising campaign in 17 Polish cities in April and May, reports Media2.pl. The campaign was prepared in cooperation with the advertising agency Brasil and media purchase was provided by Dentsu Aegis Network Polska.

Netia's Q1 revenues down 6.7 percent

Polish operator Netia published financial and operating results for the first quarter. The group's revenues amounted to PLN 364.5 million, a decrease of 6.7 percent year-on-year. The total number of RGUs decreased by 6 percent year-on-year to 2.09 million in Q1.
