New Dutch media rules move to Upper House of Parliament
The Dutch media regulator CvdM is looking forward to the changes in the Media Act 2008. The Lower House of Parliament has approved a package, which the Upper House is now examining.

The Dutch Lower Chamber of Parliament still has many questions about the reorganisation of the Dutch Media Commission (CvdM), according to the list put to Minister Arie Slob by the parliamentary committee for the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. The ministry wants to replace the supervising team of the media commission, which it says was discredited last year by administrators systematically sweeping organisational issues under the carpet.

German parliament approves reform of Telemedia Act

The German parliament has approved the government's proposal for a further reform of the Telemedia Act. Under the new rule, providers of video sharing platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo and TikTok will have to set up a reporting and remedial procedure for complaints received from users for violations of advertising and youth protection regulations. The platforms will also have to follow requirements in order to check content that violates the criminal law.
