New EC competition chief to consult market on Google case

The European Commission will take more time to consult the market before deciding how to proceed with its anti-trust case against Google over its search practices. The new EU competition commissioner Margrete Vestager said in a statement that investigation needs to be limited to competition problems, despite a number of concerns among the public about issues such as privacy and media pluralism being affected by Google's dominance in the search market. Vestager said she had followed the case closely before she took over as commissioner for competition. To decide how to take the investigations
