New French government wants to change piracy law this year

France's new culture and communication minister, Aurelie Filippetti, has announced that the Hollande government will hold a dialogue with representatives of the cultural industries and internet users to make changes to the current system to fight online piracy. Les Echos reports that the new government sees Hadopi as having failed to increase revenues for creators and to be inefficient in fighting illegal internet downloads. Following the consultation, the government hopes to pass a law by the end of the year that will favour internet users' access to legal cultural content as well as
