NEW FUEL SENSORS USE DIGITAL ULTRASOUND
US: New sensors are being developed which eliminate the need for the moving rotating wiper arm, to detect the level of fuel left in a tank. The piezoelectric acoustic sensors placed in the tank, send ultrasonic signals to receivers, which are then sent to a microprocessor to determine the level of the liquid. The sensors require less power than standard senders. Article considers the mechanical, electroacoustic and electronic properties of the sensors in further detail.
