New interconnection charges won't affect prices - minister

The removal of the so-called zero interconnection rate rule at the start of next year shouldn't impact the prices charged for calls by Mexican operators, according to the country's communications and transport minister Gerardo Ruiz Esparza. Telecommunications watchdog IFT last week voted to allow America Movil to once again start charging rivals interconnection fees for the first time in over three years after the company prevailed in one of its injunctions against the 2014 telecommunications reform.
