Nexans could sell Draka fibre ops if takeover successful

French cable maker Nexans could sell Draka's communication cable operations if it takes over the Dutch cable maker, Nexans CEO Frederic Vincent told Dutch daily Het Financieele Dagblad. The copper and fibre operations contribute around one third to Draka annual revenues at EUR 2 billion. The operations employ 3,000 out of Draka total worker base of 9,600. Nexans sees more opportunity in the market for electrical cables, while Draka's low voltage cables complement Nexans high and medium voltage cables. Vincent is behind a consolidation of the fragmented market, in which Nexans has a 7 percent
