Next version of 4G standard to get new name

The next evolution of 4G will have its own name, the GSA announced at the LTE World congress in Amsterdam. Standards group 3GPP is almost finished with the development of Release 13; this standard and its subsequent versions will have a separate name. While many operators are already using the LTE-A designation to market the latest version of 4G, this technology is mainly based around carrier aggregation and to a lesser extent small cells. The roadmap for the next two years will see the introduction of several new technologies, marking a significant move forward. The name for this next phase
