Nextel Argentina has invested USD 140 million to acquire five local wireless operators and increase its existing spectrum capacity, reports Cronista. The company now owns 100 percent of the share capital of Skyonline, Netizen, Trixco, Infotel and Calibi, thereby acquiring much-needed spectrum in the 900 MHz and 2.5 GHz bands. The transaction marks the start of a major investment in technology and networks that will enable Nextel to boost its existing services and add new value-added offerings such as mobile data, said the report.
