NFI Midas acquires Mobyland for PLN 177 mln
Polish fund NFI Midas has agreed to buy mobile operator Mobyland from Aero2 for PLN 117 million. Mobyland will be merged with NFI's mobile unit CenterNet. The operators already work together and recently launched a LTE network on their 1800MHz spectrum. The new company will focus on offering wholesale network access, including over the LTE network. Pay-TV provider Cyfrowy Polsat, which is controlled by NFI Midas supervisory board member Zygmunt Solorz-Zak, is already a customer on the Mobyland network. The deal is expected to close by March 2011. NFI Midas plans a rights issue before then to finance the deal and restructure its debt.

Polkomtel considers LTE cooperation with Polsat

Cyfrowy Polsat, Mobyland agree wholesale data service

Polish pay-TV operator Cyfrowy Polsat has signed an agreement with the operator Mobyland on wholesale mobile data services. Polsat will have access to LTE and HSPA+, using Mobyland's LTE network in the 1,800 MHz band and the 900 MHz frequencies held by Aero2. The agreement runs for an indefinite period and will be billed based on GB used. Cyfrowy Polsat to trial LTE with 10,000 subscribers

Polish operator Cyfrowy Polsat will begin start accepting applications from subscribers who wish to participate in its LTE trials, from 1 December. Around 10,000 subscribers will participate in the trials, Rzeczpospolita reported. The operator is aiming to launch LTE services in the first quarter. Cyfrowy Polsat will offer the services using the network of Mobyland.

Mobyland has no LTE takers yet, will offer LTE modem

Polish mobile operator Mobyland has not yet attracted any customers for its new wholesale LTE services, board member Adam Kurianski told Rzeczpospolita. The operator launched the network two months ago. The operator does not plan to offer retail services. Mobyland will instead offer an LTE modem that works with a 1,800 MHz frequency. LTE is expected to reach 11 percent of the total subscriptions in Poland in 2015, while 3G will make up 69 percent of subscriptions in the same year, boosted by mobile player investment into HSPA+ networks, according to a report by Pyramid Research. Centernet, Mobyland launch LTE network in 1800MHz band

Polish mobile operator Mobyland and its partner Centernet have launched the first commercial LTE network in the 1800MHz band. The network offers initial speeds of up to 153Mbps download and 48Mbps, and the operators said this will eventually rise to 326/86Mbps.
