NI shows 28GHz prototype for Verizon 5G specification

Wednesday 22 March 2017 | 13:31 CET | News
National Instruments (NI) said it is the first to demonstrate, at 28 GHz, a real-time, over-the-air prototype aligned with the Verizon 5G specification. The demonstration took place at the IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC) in San Francisco. Verizon and its partners have designated the 28 GHz frequency band for deployment in the US. With the demonstration, researchers will be able to rapidly prototype new wireless standards. They will be able to prototype and test the Verizon 5G specification and move immediately to 5G New Radio once the standard stabilizes.
