Nigerian lawyer threatens to sue Kwese TV over unpaid invoice for World Cup flyers

Wednesday 14 August 2019 | 09:25 CET | News

Nigerian lawyer Chris Ezenwa Anokam has issued a seven-day ultimatum to Kwese Television to pay his client 'So Dave Classic' NGN 1.07 million, CommunicationsWeek reported. The lawyer sent a letter to the MD of Kwese Television alleging that Kwese TV owes his client NGN 1.05 million and NGN 19,000 after it contracted it to print, supply and distribute World Cup flyers in designated areas.

David Wetan, managing director of So Dave Classic, said regional sales manager of Kwese TV (Econet Media) Uche Eliliga had contacted it to produce 150,000 flyers for the South-South Region (Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Edo states) at the rate of NGN 7 per copy.

Anokam alleged in his letter that more than a year later, after So Dave Classic had completed its part of the contract, Kwese TV had willfully failed to settle the financial obligation for the contract. He said his client had to borrow money from the bank to enable him to execute the contract, and that the interest on the loan had erased any profit from the contract.
