Nigerian telecom operators say spectrum sharing could mitigate network congestion

Telecommunication operators are struggling to keep up with the rise in voice and data traffic during the coronavirus lockdown, reports The Punch. They are seeking a directive form the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to allow them to share spectrum to ease the congestion. Gbolahan Awonuga, head of operations at the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), said that before the lockdown started, they had asked the NCC for palliatives to ensure the smooth delivery of services.
