Nkom scolds Telenor for indicating copper shutdown next year, ahead of 2025 target

Wednesday 17 November 2021 | 13:40 CET | News
Norwegian communications regulator Nkom said that Telenor must not shut down its copper network in 2022, as the operator indicated it would last week. Nkom director Pal Wien Espen said it has ordered Telenor to continue the copper network until autumn 2025 to maintain broadband competitiont, until every customer has been transferred and has access to new technology. Hans Jorgen Enger, head of NKom's competition department, said Telenor should be in no doubt that the watchdog would tolerate no breach.
