NMa closes cartel probe with lower fines

Dutch competition watchdog NMa confirmed that KPN, Vodafone Netherlands and T-Mobile Netherlands cut a cartel deal in 2001. The NMa made its statement following a ruling by the Dutch Corporate Appeals Court (CBb). The three companies will now be fined, KPN for EUR 7.93 million, T-Mobile NL for EUR 4.59 million and Vodafone NL for EUR 3.71 million. The new fines follow a ruling by the CBb in August 2010. The court had asked the European Court of Justice if shared information over dealer commissions could be understood to restrict competition. The ECJ said it did. The operators were able to
