Nokia adds 10 Gbps PON, P2P fibre to mobile platform

Nokia added 10Gbps passive optical network (PON) and point-to-point (P2P) fibre to its mobile transport platform. Nokia's upgraded mobile transport platform will allow operators to leverage existing passive optical networks used in fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) deployments and gain the capacity and coverage 5G requires. Operators can now connect radio cells to a fixed network at scale and gradually introduce more bandwidth as service needs increase, the company said.
