Nokia has announced that the settlement of its arbitration with Samsung will result in a positive financial impact for Nokia Technologies after the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce issued its award in the case. Nokia and Samsung had previously agreed that this would settle the amount of additional compensation payable to Nokia for the five-year extension of their licence agreement covering certain Nokia patents for the period beginning on 01 January 2014.
Including the award, Nokia said it expects Nokia Technologies to report net sales of around EUR 400 million in the fourth quarter of 2015 and around EUR 1.02 billion for the full year. Following the award, the annualised net sales run rate for the licensing division Nokia Technologies will be around EUR 800 million.
The company added that, including this award, it expected to receive at least EUR 1.3 billion of cash between 2016 and 2018 related to its settled and ongoing arbitrations at Nokia Technologies.
