Nokia CTO takes leave of absence
Nokia CTO Rich Green has taken a leave of absence, reportedly due to a disagreement on the company's strategy. The Helsingin Sanomat writes that Green was not happy with the plans to stop developing phones based on the MeeGo system. Two sources told the paper that Green will be away until at least the end of the year, and is unlikely to return to the company. Nokia told Bloomberg News that Henry Tirri, head of the Nokia Research Center, will take over Green's duties. Green is a former Sun Microsystems executive VP for software and was named Nokia CTO in May 2010.

Intel plans to "temporarily discontinue" development of the MeeGo mobile OS due to a lack of enthusiasm for the platform from handset and tablet PC vendors, the Digitimes reports citing industry sources. Nokia CEO Stepehen Elop has rejected rumours the company is up for sale. Rumours surfaced after Fitch cut its long-term debt rating on Nokia to one notch above junk status.
