Nokia expands Asha range, adds Facebook button
Nokia announced two new phones in its Asha range aimed at emerging markets, including its first device with a dedicated Facebook button. Expected to ship this quarter, the Asha 205 and 206 also feature a new sharing technology from Nokia, called Slam. This allows users to share multimedia content like photos and videos with most other Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones, without the need to pair devices and without the recipient having Slam. According to Nokia, Slam works in "just a few clicks", is faster than Bluetooth alone and does not use mobile internet.

The Asha 205 is a qwerty handset aimed at social networkers. Its Facebook button provides access to the 'Facebook for Every Phone' app, focused on messaging and presence alerts. It can also provide access to other Facebook features, such as sharing photos and status updates. The Asha 205 also comes with the eBuddy messenger, Nokia Life+ web app, 40 free EA Games available for download and access to the Nokia Store. It will be available in single- and dual-Sim models in three colours, for USD 62 excluding taxes and subsidies.

The Asha 206, available in the same colours and at the same price, features a 2.4-inch display, Facebook and Twitter apps from the home screen, a 1.3MP camera and a social and mobile entertainment package with eBuddy Chat, WhatsApp and ten free content items. It will also be available in single- and dual-Sim versions.

Both phones come with the Nokia Xpress Internet platform to reduce data consumption as well as Nokia Nearby, a web app to locate points of interest such as restaurants, shopping and ATMs.
