Nokia, Ficora, YLE support 5G test network in Oulu

A test network for 5G wireless communications was launched in the northern Finnish city of Oulu on 21 May, according to an article on Finnish broadcaster YLE's news website. The 5G grid is a joint project by VTT, the University of Oulu and more than a dozen other partners including Oulu city council, the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (Ficora), Nokia, and YLE itself. Initially, it will operate as a closed network on the premises of the VTT Technical Research Centre but in June, it will open as a public test environment on the Oulu university campus.
