Nokia net sales down 19% year-on-year in Q3 2012
Nokia has reported group net sales of EUR 7.2 billion or Q3 2012, down from EUR 7.5 billion in Q2 2012 and down 19 percent from EUR 8.98 billion a year earlier, with Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) sales up quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year to EUR 3.5 billion. Volume Lumia smartphone sales increased quarter-on-quarter to 2.9 million units, with overall mobile phone volume sales up quarter-on-quarter to 76.6 million and down 15 percent from 89.8 million units in Q3 2011. Sales of the new Asha full-touch smartphone reached 6.5 million units in Q3. Nokia Group posted negative operating profit of -EUR 576 million for Q3 2012, compared to -EUR 71 million in Q3 2011.

Nokia said its fourth-quarter results were better than expected, thanks to strong sales of its Lumia smartphones and lower costs. Nokia drops from top-5 smartphone makers in Q3

Nokia dropped from the world's top-five smartphone makers in the third quarter, according to research by IDC. Samsung cemented its lead with an estimated 31.3 percent market share, followed by Apple with 15.0 percent. Research in Motion, ZTE and HTC, all with around 4 percent, rounded out the top five smartphone makers. Nokia unveils entry-level Lumia 510 smartphone

Nokia announced a new entry-level Windows smartphone, called the Lumia 510. The phone features a four-inch display and runs the Windows Phone 7.5 operating system.
